Spring comes to BalrotheryNS

We had the pleasure of a visit from Ann Lynch who brought along her lamb and her chickens. Ann taught the children all about Spring and showed them how to make a wigwam from hazel. The pupils really enjoyed it and there was great excitement to have a lamb at school.

Food Dudes

Ms O Mahony is co-ordinating Food Dudes along with Joyce Denver. Between them each day fruit and vegetables are distributed to each class. The junior end of the school will taste/eat different fruit and vegetables for 16 days while the senior end of the school will taste/eat for 8 days. This is a Department of Education initiative promoting healthy eating. The school are delighted to take part in it . The children are earning stickers and rewards as they go along.

Science Week 2017

The students of Balrothery NS had a great Science Week. Each class carried out an experiment , then shared their learning experience with other classes. Sarah Callaghan kelly came and gave a workshop to 3rd and 4th class who now are watching  bacteria grow in their petri dishes.

The infants went on a trip to Imaginosity where they took part in a science workshop learning all about how their bodies work.
