On Monday the 18 January 2010 we were deeply saddened to part with our beloved Ms. Fionnuala Larkin. On Friday the 12 March, we remembered her, a true and treasured teacher, colleague and friend in a special Month’s Mind Mass in Balbriggan Parish Church. It was attended by Fionnuala’s family and friends, her colleagues, the pupils and parents of the school
Fr. Padraig O’Sullivan officiated at the Mass and the school choir under the direction of Ms. Fiona McCrudden accompanied by Mrs. Noreen Gavin(organist) added immensely to the sense of occasion. Instrumentals were played on the flute by Katie Markham. Readers, prayers of the faithful and offeratory gifts were organised by Mrs. Mairéad Murphy.
A moving reflection from Benedictus(John O’Donoghue) was beautifully read by Mrs. Stephanie O’Connor(retired Principal). Mr. PJ Keary, Principal reflected on Fionnuala’s 38 teaching years in the school and remembered her fondly.
A reception was held in the school afterwards, followed by a tree (Taxus Yew) ceremony, preformed by Fionnuala’s husband, Gerry. It was a memorable day, made possible by a team effort of staff, parents committee and pupils of the school.
Many thanks to all who made this wonderful celebration possible.
