Our school was a hive of activity recently when a garden was created by our uniquely talented caretaker, Tommy Gallagher and some very enthusiastic and creative pupils. It was in recognition of the dedication and service of both Stephanie O'Connor and Fionnuala Larkin. Stephanie worked as a teacher in the school for a number of years until she became Principal in 1975, a post she held until she retired in 2006. She served the school with enthusiasm and dedication with a vision that is still evident in the school today. Fionnuala spent many years teaching at the school, primarily teaching Junior Infants. For probably over 1,000 past pupils she was the first point of contact with the school making a lasting impression on virtually all she taught. Her infectious love of life and education added such a wonderful dimension to our school. The Garden and the marble Plaque was unveiled by Mrs Carew with all the pupils and staff in the school watching on. Special thanks to local undertaker Pat Hickey who kindly donated the marble plaque in recognition of the positive impact both Stephanie and Fionnuala had on his own experience in Balrothery National School.
It has a slidegallery !!!!
