It’s A Cricket Hat-Trick for St Oliver Plunkett's National School Balrothery
On Friday, 17th of June 2011 Balrothery N.S. captured their third consecutive win in the Leprechaun Cup, and to celebrate the occasion the squad of 15 were all presented with a cap embossed with the school crest, “The Knights of Balrothery”. And well deserved too, as many of the team throughout the competition showed the qualities needed of a Knight: commitment, determination, and humility in victory.
To reach the final Balrothery played three schools from North Co Dublin, St Patricks Skerries, St Catherine’s Rush, and Milverton. They met St John Bosco Cabra in the Semi Final and on June 17 m Delgany N.S Wicklow in the final.
The match was played in Y.M.C.A. Sandymount where the occasional squalls of rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of either the players or spectators. The match started well for Delgany who were an impressive 60-1 from 10 overs, however the consistent fielding and strong bowling from Balrothery resulted in Delgany ending their innings with a total of 116.
The impressive partnership of Fionn Hand and Jamie Grassi was enough to secure victory for Balrothery in the second half.
Balrothery 117-1, 18.1 overs,( J.Grassi 62) (F. Hand 37). Balrothery won by 9 wickets.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who have always been available to deliver and collect the children, very often at very short notice.
