'CyberSmart' Award
Over the past month, we have been working with CyberSafeKids.ie to assess our school’s approach to online safety. Members of our school management, teachers and students from 3rd-6th class engaged in an online assessment to see where our school stands on our online safety journey, which is measured against best practice. There are 3 levels of award for schools depending on the results of the assessment: CyberAware, CyberSmart and CyberChampion.
We are very pleased that our school received ‘CyberSmart’ status.
This status indicates that, as a school, cyber safety is a priority. We are meeting our responsibilities overall when it comes to online safety and digital literacy education, and its promotion across our school community.
To maintain and hopefully improve our status throughout our online safety journey, we are currently reviewing and monitoring our online safety-related policies in place and ensuring that online safety and digital literacy plays an integra role. Children from 3rd-6th class engaged in interactive sessions with CyberSafeKids.ie equipping them with core digital literacy skills & teachers will engage in CPD training on ‘Teaching Digital Citizens.’
We will review our status again next year in the hope that we continue to maintain our award while making some improvements.
Well done to all involved.
