Full STEAM Ahead! Engineers Week 2023
There was great excitement in the school on Friday as we finished off Engineers week with a display of our project work in the hall. Throughout the week each class completed a lesson in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics). STEAM is an integrated approach to education which encourages the children to think more broadly about real-world problems. Our Engineering lessons this week gave the children a chance to problem solve and be innovative as they worked in small groups, using mostly recyclable materials to design and make. Some of the wonderful projects included:
Ms. O'Neill's Class: Tin Foil Boats
Ms. McKiernan's Class: Boats for the Ginger Bread Man to cross the River
Ms. Gleeson's Class: Bridge for the 3 Billy Goats
Ms. Hernon & Ms.Folen's Class: Marshmallow Challenge
Ms. Maguire's Class: Egg Drop Challenge
Ms. Duffy @ Mr. Caffrey's Class: Building Bridges
Ms. Andrews' Class: Design a Marble Maze
MS. O'Mahony & Mr. Grant's Class: Design a Rollercoaster
Mr. Fahey's Class: Design a Parachute
