Ms Garrigan 5th&6th Class visit to Croke Park
27th Feb 2025
We had a great trip to Croke Park. We learned a lot about where the teams get ready before and after a game. We were in Dressing Room number 1 where the jerseys of each county were on display and the current champions were raised above the others.
At pitch level we caught the groundkeepers doing their job - which includes mowing the grass TWICE a day!! We were not allowed to touch the grass! There were replicas of the Sam Maguire and Liam McCarthy cups to lift up high.
From our tour guide Linda, who made it a very informative visit, we learned about the terrible history of Bloody Sunday and why the Hogan stand has its name. We went up to the 7th floor - where you would not want to have a fear of heights. We were brought through the fascinating museum and the tour was topped off with the games section with tests of agility and speed for all! We had our lunch outside in the sunshine before making our way home.
